Why do exercise movements slowly?
Avoid additional speed exercises to supplement your ISOKINATOR training. Forget fast chin-ups and push-ups while clapping your hands in the air. This tears tendons and ligaments in the shoulder joints. You don’t need this because every increase in strength also leads to higher speed and acceleration. Sports scientists confirm this principle: "Improvement of strength is always accompanied by an increase in speed of movement." (cf. Weineck, Sportbiologie 10, 2010, 369 and in this publication also Bührle / Schmidtbleicher 1977, 7 and 1981, 271; Karl 1992, 275.) People used to assume that strength training called for sacrificing agility, but one can easily see that world-class gymnasts, for example, need such musculature; their agility proves this very fact.
